History

Ardsley Park & Chatham Crescent

You are living in one of Savannah’s loveliest, most historic and prestigious neighborhoods. The area was first developed in 1909 -1910 as two exclusive suburban garden residential subdivisions. The western tract (with the square parks) was developed by Harry and William Lattimore; and the eastern section (with the round parks), known for many years as Chatham Crescent, was developed by Harvey Granger. Both developments boasted landscaped malls, parks, and medians; self-imposed zoning restrictions designed to preserve the area as a residential district; and a strong sense of community. Of the stone wall that once surrounded the neighborhood only some tile roofed granite pillars remain, but the sense of community pride is as strong today as it was four generations ago. It is reflected in the well-kept homes and gardens along our tranquil, tree lined streets, and in the activities of the Ardsley Park / Chatham Crescent Neighborhood Association.

The Ardsley Park / Chatham Crescent Neighborhood Association

The Ardsley Park / Chatham Crescent Neighborhood Association [APCCNA] is a voluntary organization, with membership open to all residents of the area bounded on the north by Victory Drive, on the south by 55th Street, on the east by Waters Avenue, and on the West by Bull Street. APCCNA holds regular meetings, publishes a neighborhood directory, hosts an Oyster Roast, Easter Egg Hunt, holiday party, and our annual Spring and Fall flings. APCCNA monitors legislative issues that may affect our quality of life. Member committees work in cooperation with city and county officials on projects such as neighborhood beautification, improvements in infrastructure, and safety. Annual dues are used to defray the cost of these activities
